Revelers joined the annual Le Merce Festival, the biggest street celebration in Barcelona, which began on Friday, September 21 and was scheduled to end on Monday, September 24.The festival is called Les Festes de la Merce in the Catalan language and Fiestas de la Merce in Spanish.La Merce Festival was declared a holiday in 1871, is to observe the Roman Catholic feast day of Our Lady of Mercy.
