Trump Accuses China Of 'Actively Trying' To Impact Election, Threatens 'Economic Retaliation'

President Trump on Tuesday went after China on Twitter.

President Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday and sharply criticized China.
"China has openly stated that they are actively trying to impact and change our election by attacking our farmers, ranchers and industrial workers because of their loyalty to me," Trump wrote.
"What China does not understand is that these people are great patriots and fully understand that China has been taking advantage of the United States on Trade for many years," Trump added. "They also know that I am the one that knows how to stop it. There will be great and fast economic retaliation against China if our farmers, ranchers and/or industrial workers are targeted!"
The president made similar remarks while announcing that the US would impose tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.
"For months, we have urged China to change these unfair practices, and give fair and reciprocal treatment to American companies," Trump said in a statement on Monday. "We have been very clear about the type of changes that need to be made, and we have given China every opportunity to treat us more fairly.  But, so far, China has been unwilling to change its practices."
He continued: "As President, it is my duty to protect the interests of working men and women, farmers, ranchers, businesses, and our country itself.  My Administration will not remain idle when those interests are under attack."
