The tail end of Hurricane Florence spawned several tornados in Richmond, Virginia on September 17, damaging structures across the city and killing one.

Several tornado-warned thunderstorms tracked over the Richmond and Chesterfield areas, forcing people to seek shelter. Due to the timing of the severe storms, some schools in the area delayed dismissals.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast to continue across Virginia through Tuesday which could impact cleanup efforts in areas impacted by Monday's storms.
