Brazil’s most popular politician ended his legal battle to run for the top office in next month’s election.
Imprisoned former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva dropped out of the race on Tuesday.
Lula has been jailed on corruption charges in the southern city of Curitiba since April.
Party officials say Lula stepped aside to allow running mate Fernando Haddad to stand for the presidency.
