BJP attacks Rahul Gandhi over National Herald case; accuses Congress of increasing NPAs
  • 6 years ago
The ruling BJP on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi over the National Herald case. The BJP said that Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi’s pleas against the IT department’s decision to reopen their 2011-2012 tax assessments reveal “deep seated corruption” in the party. The BJP’s attack comes a day after the Delhi high court dismissed the Gandhis’ challenge to reopen their tax assessments in connection with the case. Union minister Smriti Irani said that Rahul Gandhi needs to answer many questions. Irani also took on the Congress alleging that the party had created the NPA problem for the country during its tenure. Irani cited former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan's statement to say that Congress was responsible for the increased NPA.
