A newly constructed bridge on Kuno River in Pohari tehsil of Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district collapsed and washed away due to flooding following heavy rainfall. About 500-metre long portion of the bridge washed away in Phori tehsil of Shivpuri district. Apart from Kuno, Chambal and Seep rivers in Shivpuri and neighbouring Sheopur district were on rise after torrential rains lashed the region. The bridge was inaugurated by Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on June 29 this year and was constructed at a cost of Rs 7.78 crore. At the time of inauguration, Tomar had said, "This project will play an important role in connecting Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It shows our government’s commitment and readiness towards the development of Madhya Pradesh.”
