The number of cases involving voice phishing is growing here in Korea.
The Financial Supervisory Service unveiled the amount of damages incurred due to such scams.
Nearly 160-million U.S. dollars during the first half of this year... already surpassing 2017's amount by more than 74-percent.
The financial watchdog highlighted, in H1, an average of 116 people have fallen victim to voice phishing daily... with the number of fake bank deposits that have been suspended... to 27-thousand.
In response, the FSS vowed to strengthen preventative measures when someone withdraws more than 44-hundred dollars... and develop artificial intelligence-based apps to automatically block voice phishing calls.
