Let's begin with South Korea's first confirmed case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome,... or MERS,... in three years.
A 61-year-old man was quarantined over the weekend after testing positive for the deadly virus,... which killed almost 40 people in the country in 2015.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says,... as of Sunday,... 22 people have been confirmed to have had close contact with the patient,... including his wife, airport staff, cabin crew, passengers on the same flight,... and medical staff.
Some 440 people who were on the same flight as the man will also be monitored by health authorities.
The patient, who is now in an isolated section of Seoul National University Hospital,... arrived in South Korea last Friday on a flight from the UAE after staying in Kuwait for around three weeks.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is analyzing CCTV footage from Incheon International Airport to identify any other people who may have come in close contact with him.
