Bonuses for civil servants can only be considered when gov't can afford it, says deputy finance minister

Putrajaya will only pay bonuses, ex-gratia payments and incentives to the civil service when there is a surplus in the government's coffers, Deputy Finance Minister Amiruddin Hamzah said today.
He said the bonuses, incentives and ex-gratia payments can only be considered after taking into consideration the ability and financial status of the country.
