Once-in-a-lifetime handball shot gets stuck in posts to deny team last-minute equaliser

This is the unbelievable moment a handball player's throw in overtime got stuck in goalposts, agonisingly denying the team a final-minute equaliser.

The footage filmed last Saturday (August 25) in Fürstenfeldbruck, a town in Bavaria, Germany, shows the home side celebrating after clinching the victory after a nerve-wracking final free throw - when the scores were 24-23 - gets stuck in the posts.

After the manic celebration and reaction from the victors, Tom Wolf of HSG Konstanz, the unlucky player who threw the shot, is seen being consoled by a fellow teammate.

A spokesman for HSG Konstanz said: "Time expired, the score stood 24:23 and then that. We've never seen it before."

They later added "Congratulations Fürstenfeldbruck! Great ... performance. Hats off.

"This happens once in a lifetime. Or never."
