India Govt's road safety report reveals 1.47 Lakhs people died due to road accident in 2017

The report highlights 4.64 Lakh road accidents claimed 1.47 Lakh lives in 2017. 17 people die every hour in road accidents in India. 30% of all accidents happen on national highways. Potholes killed 3,597 (2.4%) people. Two wheeler drivers died most in accidents 29.8%. Pedestrians comprise of 13.8% of people killed. Young people (18-45 age) account for 72.1% of road accident victims. Highest number of accidents happened in Tamil Nadu, most people died in up.
