Festival's Giant Tomato Fight Attracts Thousands to Spanish Town

Crowds lined the streets of Bunol, near Valencia, Spain, on August 29, to mark the annual La Tomatina festival with one of the world’s biggest food fights.Thousands of people have been coming to the town since the festival, with roots in the 1940s, began to be popularized during the 1980s.A total of 30,000 people attend the festival every year, organizers say, with some 22,000 having the privilege of being involved in the food fight, pelting each other with 150 tons of tomatoes.
