President Trump tweeted Saturday that a trade deal with Mexico is imminent.

President Trump on Saturday indicated that a trade deal with Mexico is imminent.
"Our relationship with Mexico is getting closer by the hour. Some really good people within both the new and old government, and all working closely together....A big Trade Agreement with Mexico could be happening soon!" Trump wrote in a tweet.
While he did not provide further details, Business Insider reported Wednesday that the two governments have made progress in renegotiating some of the rules spelled out in North American Free Trade Agreement with a special focus on the automobile sector.
However, a Mexican official has indicated that even though the U.S. and Mexico may have found common ground, Canada would need to rejoin the discussion and agree to a revised framework before it can move forward, notes CNBC.
Other factors could also derail the trade deal including the December inauguration of Mexico's President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador who has different views on NAFTA than the current leader.
