Scary moment battery car falls on tracks at Indian Railway station

This is the scary moment a battery car, steered by an inexperienced driver, falls off the platform at a railway station in India.

A Railway official said it was a terrifying incident as a train had passed through the very tracks just two minutes earlier.

The battery car, meant to ferry the elderly, did not have any passengers at the time.

The incident occurred in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on August 19.

CCTV footage from the railway station shows a driver trying to make a U-turn and then getting too close to the edge of the platform. He jumps off the vehicle as it plunges down onto the tracks.

A few men rush to help and lift the vehicle back onto the platform.

A senior railway official said: “This is the fourth time a battery car has fallen off the platform this year. The mishaps are happening as the drivers are not adequately trained.”

“We have banned the battery cars at Indore station until we can find a way to avoid these accidents,” he added.
