South Korea wins 3 gold medals in fencing, taekwondo on Day 2

Let's give you the latest from Jakarta and Palembang -- the host cities for the 2018 Asian Games.
It was Day 2 on Monday and South Korea scooped three more gold medals -- this time in fencing and taekwondo.
South Korea is currently third in the medal standings behind China and Japan.

Another successful day at the Asian Games for Team Korea.
Keeping the gold run going on Monday,... South Korean fencers, Jeon Hee-sook and Gu Bon-gil won the women's foil and the men's sabre individual titles.
Jeon's victory makes her a two-time Asiad champion, following her first gold in Incheon four years ago.
Her 8-3 win over an opponent from China also sealed a new record for South Korea,... becoming the first country to win four consecutive Asiad golds in the women's individual foil.

On the men's side,… Gu Bon-gil won sabre fencing gold in an all-South Korean affair.
Gu defeated his fellow countryman Oh Sang-uk by one point to snag the gold.
With the win, he became the first fencer to win three consecutive Asiad gold medals in the men's individual sabre.
The two finalists will compete in the same team on Thursday at the team event,… hunting for more medals as South Korea looks to achieve its target of 65 golds in Indonesia.

South Korea other gold on Day 2 came in the taekwondo "kyorugi" event.
Kim Tae-hun won the men's 58-kilogram title, securing his second Asiad gold, following his win in the 54-kilogram category in Incheon in 2014.
Kim Jan-di in the women's 67-kilogram category and Ha Min-ah in the women's 53-kilogram had to settle for silver.

A slew of other medals were also secured in the co-host city of Palembang.
South Korea won two silvers and one bronze in shooting.
Jung Eun-hea came second in the women's 10-meter air rifle.
Kang Gee-eun grabbed the silver in the women's trap and Ahn Dae-myeong won a bronze medal in the men's trap.

Later in the day, South Korea's men's national football team secured their place in the last 16 with a narrow one-nil win over Kyrgyzstan.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min scored the winner to help South Korea squeeze past the Central Asian nation.
South Korea, the defending champions, advance to the knockout stage as the runners-up with two wins and one loss.
South Korea will face Iran, the winners of Group F, in the round of 16 on Thursday at 9:30 PM, Korea time.
