Kroger testing self-driving grocery deliveries in Arizona
  • 6 years ago
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA — Krogers said it will begin testing self-driving grocery delivery with technology partner Nuro at a Kroger-owned Fry's Food Store in Scottsdale.
According to Reuters, the initial phase of testing will use Toyota Prius cars equipped with Nuro tech. Safety drivers will remain behind the wheel in case of an error or emergency.
Nuro's R1 driverless delivery van, which has no seats, will hopefully hit the roads in the fall, according to the companies.
The driverless delivery service will set you back $5.95 with no minimum order required, and it will only be available to addresses inside the store's zip code.
One drawback for the typical 'Murcian however, is that customers will actually need to walk to the curb to get their delivered groceries.
