Track damaged and traffic slowed after train derails in Pennsylvania borough

Crews responded to a train derailment in Windber, located around 80 miles east of Pittsburgh, on August 13.

According to local media, the freight train veered off its tracks shortly before 7:30 pm, damaging the foundation of a house and startling neighbors in the residential area.

One witness said at least one of the rail cars had tipped sideways at an angle, but was not toppled over. The disabled train stretched nearly a mile between 17th Street and Somerset Avenue and 5th Street,

No injuries were reported and the cause of the derailment has not been determined.
