A brush fire broke out in Kapolei, Oahu, on August 7, forcing the closing of Kapolei Parkway as drivers watched the flames burning on the side of the road.

According to local media, the fire was reported just after 3 pm. Almost 50 firefighters rushed to the scene to contain the blaze.

A nearby mall, Ka Makana Alii, was evacuated at around 4 pm.The state's fire department said the flames were deemed under control by 5 pm.

The cause of the fire and the number of acres burned was not known at the time of writing.
