Severe heatwave leads to reduction of agricultural production, casualties in North Korea: IFRC

North Korea is dealing with a severe heatwave of its own... and is in need of humanitarian support.
A recent report from the International Federation of Red Cross says,.... the North Korean Red Cross has officially informed the organization... of emergencies in the southern provinces of Pyongannam-do... and Hamgyongnam-do.
The heatwave started in mid-July and the mercury has reached close to 40 degrees Celsius in certain parts of the country.
North Korea's Red Cross organization said,... the heat has significantly affected agricultural production and that many elderly and children are suffering from a heatstroke.
With the heatwave in North Korea expected to continue until mid-August... the International Red Cross says... it aims to pump water to the highest-hit areas.... and improve food security in the North.
