S. Korea recognizes 202 more female independence patriots

South Korea has posthumously recognized 2-hundred and-2 women as patriots who fought for the country's independence from Japanese imperial rule.
This is the result of a four month-long government-funded research by the Korea History Cultural Center.
Twenty-six of the women have been added to the list of people to be honored next week on National Liberation Day.
Most of the women were involved in independence activism here in home soil, while many others worked for the country's liberation abroad.
Currently, women make up just 2 percent of the 14-thousand-830 activists whose efforts have been recognized by the government.
The group says more female patriots should be recognized, as the independence movement would not have been possible without their support .
