Sparks Fly From Power Line After Tornado Touches Down in Queens

A small tornado downed power lines and at least 50 trees in the neighborhoods of College Point and Malba in Queens, New York, on the evening of August 2, the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed.The EF-0 tornado was about 100 yards wide and touched down near Saint Fidelis Catholic Church in College Point. It traveled for about three quarters of a mile – nine city blocks – to Malba, where it dissipated, the NWS said. No injuries were reported.This footage shows sparks flying from damaged power lines in College Point on the evening of August 2, and fallen trees in the area the following morning.Local media shared images showing damage caused to cars by fallen trees.
