Bodycam footage from June 23 released by Minneapolis police shows officers spotting Thurman Blevins, shouting "he's got a gun!".They chased him through the streets and one officer shot him. An officer also called for an ambulance for Belvins.

Such instances of shootings being caught on police body cameras are not new. There has been an outcry by American civil society over such videos which show police shooting at people and then getting lenient sentences, even as the person shot may succumb to injuries. Many shootings have happened even as the person getting shot has not been armed.
