The U.S. says it did not give any money to North Korea in exchange for the recovery and return of the remains of 55 American soldiers killed during the Korean War.
State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert noted that while U.S. code grants the authority to reimburse the North, or any other country, for expenses related to the recovery and storage of remains,... North Korea DID NOT ask for money,... and that no funds were exchanged.
Last Friday,... a U.S. airplane carrying the remains of the American soldiers flew to Osan Air Base in South Korea.
A formal repatriation ceremony will be held there on August 1st.
It part of an agreement made between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Trump during their summit in Singapore.
