Ryanair passengers on the tarmac at Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport refused to board the plane on July 22 after they were told that their flight had exceeded its max baggage allowance and they would have to fly without their bags.According to reports from Hungarian outlets index.hu and 444.hu, the flight, Ryanair FR2968, was scheduled to depart from Budapest to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Passengers were told that the flight was overloaded and baggage had to be removed, and about 50 annoyed passengers exited the plane and refused to fly without their bags.Ryanair experienced the same problem a week ago – in that instance, bags were removed from the plane and passengers were told that they would have to wait three days to receive their luggage, index.hu reported.This footage shows a glimpse of the passengers who refused to fly on the tarmac.The uploader of this footage sent Storyful the following description of the incident over email:“All the passengers had already taken their seats and we were ready for takeoff when one of us realized that the airport staff started removing all of our luggage from the plane. Understandably, everyone got upset with the situation. We were told that we either fly without our luggage or we have to leave the plane. Many of us hopped off, because we had vital items, such as medicine, wallets, documents etc. in our bags. We were standing in front of the plane, waiting for our luggage to be returned to us.Then, an hour later we were told that we can take only the most vital items from our luggage. That was the most humiliating move from their side in this situation. So all the passengers were searching through their luggage on the runway.They could not tell us any specific information about what will exactly happen to our belongings after we take off without them. As we were waiting impatiently a lady informed us that there was a 99 percent chance our luggage would be returned to us the following morning. They planned to carry our bags on a plane headed to London with other passengers. After the plane lands in London, it would carry our belongings to our destination, Las Palmas.Later, Ryanair stated that the plane could not take off, because it was overweight from all the luggage.
