The nation's top diplomat and her German counterpart are set to launch their inaugural "strategic dialogue" later this week.
Berlin's Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs is making his first trip to Asia since coming into office in March.
He will first travel to Japan on Wednesday, then fly to South Korea on the same day for a two day visit.
The maiden meeting between Kang Kyung-hwa and Heiko Maas is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
This comes as the two countries agreed to establish the Strategic Dialogue when President Moon Jae-in visited Germany last July.
The ministers will discuss a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, with a special focus on the latest North Korea developments and efforts to denuclearize the peninsula.
