A lava bomb reportedly crashed through the roof of a Hawaiian tour boat on Monday morning, leaving many injured.  The piece of volcanic rock was one of many ejected in a lava explosion, and, according to Hawaii News Now, was about the size of a basketball.  CNN reports that most of those hurt had minor wounds but "four were taken by ambulance to Hilo Medical Center."  Estimates of the total number of people hurt in the lava bomb crash range from 12 to more than 23.  The explosion is said to have been caused by the continuing Mount Kilauea eruptions.
"A large volume of lava from Fissure 8 in the lower East Rift Zone continues to enter the ocean at Kapoho since the May 3 eruption," notes the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
