N. Korea, U.S. set for delayed talks on return of American war dead
  • 6 years ago
North Korea has met with officials from UN Command representing the United States,... for talks on repatriating the remains of American soldiers who were killed during the Korean War.
According to South Korean broadcaster YTN,... the talks began this morning at the truce village of Panmunjom.
They were supposed to happen on Thursday, in fact, but the North failed to show up... and hours later asked UN Command to reschedule for Sunday.
The North Koreans made that request using a military hotline that had been suspended for five years.
They had also proposed having the talks take place between generals... as opposed to working-level officials as originally planned.
If the delegation from UN Command does include a U.S. general today, it'll be the first meeting of its kind in over 9 years.
