Ed Sheeran Sued Again for Allegedly Copying Marvin Gaye Two years ago, Sheeran was sued by the family of Ed Townsend, the co-writer of ‘Let’s Get It On’ by Marvin Gaye. They claimed he took the melody, harmony, and rhythmic components for his own song ’Thinking Out Loud.’ Now, the singer is being sued again for $100 million dollars in damages for infringement by Structured Asset Sales, a company that owns one-third of the copyright to the classic Marvin Gaye song.
