South Korea has been offering assistance to help other countries around the world develop.
The latest recipient of the government's official aid program is Vietnam, a country looking for ways to improve its energy efficiency.
Kan Hyeong-woo has more.

As a part of South Korea's Official Development Assistance plan, the Korea International Cooperation Agency and Korea Energy Agency invited officials from Vietnam to attend a workshop on energy efficiency.

As one of the fastest developing countries in Southeast Asia, Vietnam struggles to meet its energy demands.

The workshop looked at how to promote energy efficiency in industrial sectors for future investment.

"South Korea has established the policy and legislation structures needed to encourage Korean firms to save energy. On top of that, Seoul has a solid energy management system and an efficient energy data analysis center."

The Vietnamese officials also visited a number of energy conservation projects and had the chance to see how South Korea is trying to maximize its energy efficiency.

The Korea Energy Agency plans to continue working closely with Vietnamese officials in the future.

"Before the end of 2019, we plan to send some of our experts to Vietnam to help promote investment models for energy efficiency in Vietnamese industry."

After completing the workshop, the officials will return to Vietnam to implement what they've learned from the experience.
