Trump: 'So Many People Hurt' Due To Mueller's Russia Probe
  • 6 years ago
President Trump on Sunday again spoke out against the Russia probe.

President Trump on Sunday asserted that "so many people" have been "hurt" as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russia's interference in US elections.
"Major Wall Street Journal opinion piece today talking about the Russian Witch Hunt and the disgrace that it is. So many people hurt, so bad for our country - a total sham!" Trump wrote on Twitter.
Last month, the president had blasted the Russia investigation for its negative impact on "young and beautiful lives."
"Who's going to give back the young and beautiful lives (and others) that have been devastated and destroyed by the phony Russia Collusion Witch Hunt? They journeyed down to Washington, D.C., with stars in their eyes and wanting to help our nation...They went back home in tatters!"  Trump tweeted in May.
Though Trump did not mention specific names, there have been reports about the toll the probe has had on people who have been questioned by Mueller's team.
Former Trump-campaign adviser Michael Caputo told the National Review in April about costs related to the probe, "These tremendous expenses have forced us into a situation where many basic bills go unpaid or paid late. We may lose our home. To pay the bills, I've liquidated my children's college fund. And my legal bills are far from over."
And Carter Page, another former adviser for the president's campaign, told the New York Post that he lost a girlfriend and experienced professional setbacks as a result.
Trump has repeatedly blamed Democrats for the investigation and accused the investigators of having a political bias.
He wrote on Saturday: "@FoxNews Poll numbers plummet on the Democrat inspired and paid for Russian Witch Hunt. With all of the bias, lying and hate by the investigators, people want the investigators investigated. Much more will come out. A total scam and excuse for the Dems losing the Election!"
