Vedanta limited blames Tuticorin admin for indifference, warns of Sabotage
  • 6 years ago
Vedanta limited has informed the Madurai bench of Madras High Court that the sulphuric acid leak in one of a storage tank inside its sealed sterlite copper plant in Tuticorin is severe and the possibility of sabotage can't be ruled out. In the petition filed, Vedanta resources also submitted that there is insufficient security in and around the plant and there is thus a grave risk and danger because there are other tanks, as well as flammable chemicals within the plant area. While the Tuticorin administration maintains that the leak isn't severe Vedanta thinks otherwise, warning of catastrophic consequences. They have demanded access to the plant plus restoration of electricity for maintenance.
