Hillary Clinton on Monday weighed in on the family separations at the border.

Hillary Clinton on Monday weighed in on the controversy surrounding the separation of children from their parents at the border.
"Despite what this White House claims, separating families is not mandated by law. That is an outright lie, and it's incumbent on all of us – journalists and citizens alike – to call it just that," Clinton wrote on Twitter.
"What's happening to families at the border right now is a humanitarian crisis," Clinton continued. "Every parent who has ever held a child in their arms, every human being with a sense of compassion and decency, should be outraged."
"The test of any nation is how we treat the most vulnerable among us. First Lady @LauraWBush made that case eloquently," Clinton added.
Former first lady Laura Bush had tweeted, "I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart."
Meanwhile, President Trump has blamed the Democrats, tweeting Friday, "The Democrats are forcing the breakup of families at the Border with their horrible and cruel legislative agenda."
According to CNN, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security revealed Friday that between April 19 and May 31, nearly 2,000 minors had been separated from their guardians at the border.
