NYC Shelters Give Dogs Anti-Anxiety Meds On Admission
  • 6 years ago
For most dogs, the animal shelter environment can be incredibly stressful. Researchers found that dogs experience high levels of stress their first days in a shelter. The stress levels of the dogs are typically three times higher than those of dogs in their homes. At Animal Care Centers of NYC, workers are trying to relieve the increased stress. The centers play relaxing music, use lavender diffusers, and line cages with blankets and pillows.
