According to the US Geological Survey, Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano exploded again, spewing more ash into the atmosphere. The volcano began erupted early in May, but didn't explode for three weeks. The latest explosion was smaller by comparison, pushing columns of ash and volcanic gas between 10,000 and 30,000 feet above sea level. The USGS also observed two new fissures ripping the ground opening, spewing molten rock over a hundred feet. A 180-foot fissure formed over the weekend, but a 160-foot fissure ripped open on June 12th, marking the 40th day of Kilauea's latest eruption.
