A "pie in the face" has been a reliable way to get a laugh since pies and faces were invented. Michael says that anytime the family goes out to the pub, somebody walks away having been pie-faced. Usually, that's Michael's honor but this time, his daughter Elyse took one for the team. She wasn't very happy about it but not to worry, somebody made sure Michael didn't get away pie-free.
