Two children and an adult had to be rescued from a devastating fire which consumed a 150 year old pub. The roof and first floor of the Red Lion pub, in Great Wakering, Essex, was completely destroyed after the blaze took hold around 4.30am on Sunday. The three were treated for smoke inhalation but are not thought to have suffered serious injuries. Steven Hayman, 39, lives opposite the pub and quickly jumped into action when he saw the flames. He said: "I woke up hearing popping noises and when I looked out the window I saw the flames. I ran outside and banged on the pub door but no lights turned on. "I knocked on the neighbours doors because the fire was spreading quite quickly and called the fire brigade
