Aeub Ali had to prop the door of his store shut with a broom in order to protect his customers as the "crazy" man slashed at it with a knife. Mr Ali, part owner of Marmary in Hull, East Yorks., called Humberside Police after the attack on Saturday afternoon (24 September) and said he was left petrified the man would return before police finally appeared at 7pm. Mr Ali said: "How is it that a man can walk around with a big knife in an open street without the police coming straight away? "It was the middle of the day and he was obviously crazy, so I don't understand why they didn't come straight away. "If he wanted to come back in the shop and kill me, he could have done it at any time.
