Giant jellyfish spotted by a diver off the coast of Cornwall

A diver off the British coast swimming next to a giant barrel jellyfish - almost as big as HIM. Scuba-diver Nick Lyon, 50, spent several minutes in the sea next to the large rhizostoma pulmo (corr) commonly known as the barrel or dustbin-lid jellyfish. Measuring around 4.5ft from head to tentacle, the creature is harmless to humans but their size gives them an imposing presence. Several of the giant animals have been spotted in Britain's seas over the last few weeks - and although they have a sting it is only very minor. Nick swam next to one at Lath Rock, Veryan Bay, Cornwall on Saturday.
