A young woman traveling home to Ireland in order to vote in the country’s referendum on the Eighth Amendment decided to keep her trip a secret from her parents, in order to surprise them upon landing.Avril Hayden shared a Twitter thread on May 24 about her sister’s homecoming, writing, “My dad sent my sister a text this week saying he will vote on her behalf since she can’t get home to vote. Little do either of my parents know I’m sitting in the airport waiting for her flight to arrive.”She updated the thread with a photo of herself and her sister, Michelle, in the airport. She then followed up with a video of Michelle, who had returned from studying in Luxembourg, surprising her parents before they went to bed.The thread had 479 retweets and 5,573 likes at time of writing.
