Kilauea Volcano Is Spewing More Than Red Hot Lava
  • 6 years ago
Whenever people see an erupting volcano, they know they should avoid the lava!
However, Hawaii's erupting Kilaeua volcano is throwing toxic ash into the air, too.
Volcanic ash isn't fluffy. Instead, it's sharp--like sand or glass. That damages lungs.
It's also dangerous to inhale. It can get lodged in the lungs, causing breathing problems.
Ironically, cleaning up the ash tends to throw more of it around in the air!
