A Volcano in Iceland Is Spewing Lava From a Miles-Long Crack

After weeks of warnings and earthquake activity, a volcanic eruption began in Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula on Dec. 18, spewing lava and smoke and threatening a nearby fishing town.
