A 22-year-old man was restrained and arrested by police at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on May 15 after yelling profanity and trying to jump the security barrier.In a message to Storyful, uploader Shara Darden said TSA agents tried unsuccessfully to calm the man down before the police became involved. “There was a woman with the young man, possibly his mother, she was tying to calm him down. She said she usually gets escorted to the gate when flying with him, but they told her no today. She said they think because he looks normal he doesn’t need help,” said Darden.In a statement emailed to Storyful, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said: "The individual arrested was Steven Biard, 22, of San Francisco, CA. Biard caused a disturbance at the TSA checkpoint inside the airport, then jumped over a security wall that separates the initial part of the checkpoint from the screening area (I am not sure of the correct terms that TSA uses for these areas).“Biard was screaming profanities at other passengers, and then at the TSA personnel assigned to the area. He was apparently upset at having to wait his turn to be screened.“When our deputy attempted to take him into custody, he physically resisted the deputy. Several deputies from nearby positions responded. Despite Biard striking several of them with punches and kicks, their combined efforts were sufficient to restrain him.“Biard was booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center with disturbing the peace, resisting an officer with force, and battery on a police officer.” Credit: Shara Darden via Storyful
