Fisherman Rescued After Shark Bite Off Cornwall

A fisherman was rescued on May 13 after being bitten in the leg by a porbeagle shark on board his boat off Cornwall on May 13, according to Her Majesty’s Coastguard.The coastguard praised the actions of a fishing crew, who sterilized and dressed the wound before calling for medical assistance.Paramedic winchman Julian ‘Bungi’ Williams, who was lowered to the vessel, said: “The crew had done a really good job of dressing the wounds before we arrived which meant that we were able to save time getting the casualty to Treliske hospital. We understand that the porbeagle shark was on the deck when the incident happened but as the crew were attempting to put it back in the sea when one of the fishermen was bitten in the process.”The coastguard said the fisherman was still in hospital on Monday and it wished him a speedy recovery.
