And to tell us more about the issues surrounding U.S. troops in South Korea, as well as American detainees in North Korea,... Professor Song Se-ryun from Kyung Hee University joins us in the studio today.
Hello professor.

Great to be here.

1- Like we just heard... the Blue House has *dismissed a New York Times report that claimed President Trump ordered the preparation of options for reducing U.S. troops in South Korea.
What can we make of this and how do you think the New York Times got to reporting this?

2- What has been North Korea's stance towards U.S. troops in South Korea up until now?

3- Is it possible though for the U.S. and North Korea to discuss this issue of U.S. troops in South Korea when the leaders of the two countries meet either this month or next month?

4- And let's talk a bit more about the three American detainees in North Korea,... amid growing anticipation that they may have been released.
What is the situation like right now in regards to those three?

5- What are the chances then of North Korea sending them back to the U.S. *before the Kim-Trump summit, and if North Korea does send them back ahead of the summit... how would that affect the Kim-Trump summit?

6- Kim Jong-un has made a series of concessions up until now... from agreeing to completely denuclearize the Korean Peninsula to freeing the three Americans.
What can we make of this and what could be Kim’s intentions?

7- Are there any other foreigners, including South Koreans,... that are currently detained in North Korea?
If there are.... what are the reasons for their detainment and could they be released anytime soon?

8- And family members of the Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea met with U.S. government officials in Washington on Wednesday... to request support for the return of their loved ones.
Will Mr. Kim and Mr. Trump discuss the Japanese abductees during their summit?

9- So it looks like North Korea has been trying to live up to the expectations of the international community after the inter-Korean summit... so can we expect North Korea’s humanitarian issues to be addressed and resolved in the near future?

Thank you for your insight today.

My pleasure.
