Graphic and disturbing : Brothers behead teenage sister in Shahjahanpur, parade her severed head

n a suspected case of “honour killing”, the police have arrested the parents, two brothers and two sisters of a 19-year-old Dalit girl whose body was found in an open field in Sujanganj police station area in Jaunpur. The victim is a native of neighbouring Pratapgarh district.
The police said the family, which had already fixed the girl’s marriage with someone else, “decided to kill her when she refused to snap ties with a youth she was having an affair”.
Claiming that all the six arrested members have confessed to the crime, Sujanganj SO K K Mishra said the girl’s elder brother slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon while others caught hold of her. After she died, they carried her body to the neighbouring Jaunpur district and dumped it in an open field.
