Kilauea's Lava Lake Overflows Into Crater

Overflows from Kilauea’s summit lava lake at the Hawaii volcano covered a large part of the floor of Halema‘uma‘u on Thursday, April 26, according to the US Geological Survey.A video posted by the USGS shows the north and east sides of Halema‘uma‘u crater, where a large overflow was active on the north side of the lava lake, sending a cascade of lava down the elevated lake rim, the agency said.The summit lava lake has been spilling into the crater on and off since April 21.
