Seeing red: Arizona teachers walk out in historic statewide strike

“Tens of thousands of teachers in Arizona and Colorado walked out of public school classrooms on Thursday to demand better pay and more education funding, in the latest revolt by educators that has spread to the U.S. West,” Reuters reported.

In this video compilation, teachers dressed in red are seen at a rally in downtown Phoenix on April 26 where they demanded “increased school funding on top of big pay hikes offered by the Republican governor,” according to The Associated Press.

The Phoenix New Times said it was the “first mass teacher strike” in Arizona’s history.
