Military delays transporting construction materials to THAAD site

South Korea's defense authorities have decided to wait until the weekend to bring in construction materials and equipment to the site of the THAAD anti-missile system in Seongju County, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, where residents and activists are protesting the deployment.
A number of protesters were injured during clashes with police on Thursday as officers tried to clear the path for trucks to enter the site.
Seoul's defense ministry says it will continue talks over the coming days on the next steps after the government pulled police out of the area.
The ministry said on Thursday that the materials being delivered are related to basic sanitation for stationed troops... and are not related to the construction of THAAD launchers.
