Netflix Originals Have the Most Smoking Scenes, Study Says The Truth Initiative, an anti-tobacco non-profit, documented the number of smoking scenes in Netflix originals compared to broadcast television shows. The group found 319 "incidents," or implied uses of tobacco products, across many Netflix originals. The study claimed these scenes occurred twice as much as scenes in cable television shows. This is because streaming services, including Hulu and Amazon Video, are exempt from the same content restrictions broadcast shows are bound to. Breaking it down show-by-show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt had the fewest with 9 "incidents." Making a Murdered had 20, House of Cards had 41, Orange is the New Black had 45 and Stranger Things took the cake with a whopping 182.
