Ex-Catalonia leader Carles Puigdemont detained in Germany, protestors demand his release

Supporters of the former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont have taken to the streets of Barcelona to protest against his arrest in Germany.
He was en route from Finland to Belgium before being detained by police on Sunday on a highway near the border of northern Germany and Denmark.
Puigdemont is wanted in Spain for rebellion and sedition after spearheading Catalonia's controversial referendum on whether to secede from Spain.
He has been living in self-imposed exile for five months in Belgium and visited Finland last week to meet lawmakers and attend a conference, before leaving on Friday.
He will appear before a German judge on Monday, after which a decision will be made on whether he will remain in custody or be extradited.
